When time is too much of the essence, violence can raise its ugly head!

Dear Fellow Earthlings,

In the United States so-called “road rage” has come to be a great problem. What used to lead to arguments and fist fights between people who didn’t even know each other has now evolved into gun fights, property damage, injury, and — sometimes — death. In the city of Houston road rage is so bad that the police find themselves constantly issuing speeding tickets for people driving at speeds 30 to 40% over the speed limit.

I myself have been involved in road rage – – on the receiving side! Just a few days ago the glare of the morning sun momentarily blinded my view of a vehicle coming from the east at a high rate of speed (moving along well above the posted speed limit of 30 miles an hour). Not seeing that car coming, I pulled out and within half  a second heard the loud blare of a car horn right behind my car. The driver behind me was insane with anger! I sped up slightly to the posted speed, but kee did not ease up on the horn.

Kerm vehicle remained so close to the rear of the car I was driving that I decided to speed up a bit, realizing that I might now attract the traffic police who are constantly preying on speeders along that road. I reasoned that it would be easier to deal with them than to deal with whomever it was in the car behind me…

The sound of the horn suddenly stopped.

The driver had suddenly turned into the parking lot of a supermarket,  located some 500 feet or so from place I had pulled out from.

The driver of that car had been intent on making that left-hand turn into the parking lot of that supermarket and should have been slowing down in anticipation of making the turn anyway! The situation could’ve turned violent…
