Day 2 of My June 1965 Personal Diary

Dear Fellow Earthlings, 

   Here is the 2nd of 30 excerpts from my diary:

Wednesday, June 2, 1965

Dear Diary,

   My brother Frank and I were again forced to work digging that drainage ditch for the house, but we finally were able to escape from our dad. (I don’t know where he went. I mean, 60 years ago is ancient history, so I don’t really remember where he was. But, somehow, Frank and I were able to go down to the woods and start building a newer, higher tier to our treehouse.  That's the same treehouse that Frank, Bill Boehm -- a close friend of mine --  I had "camped out" in.  What fun that had been! ...)

   I called a girl named Candy Lyerla, who lives in Cahokia, from "the building" (a concrete block structure which boasted a loft and an office space for my father and my Uncle Donald "D" Walker). It was raining heavily as I spoke with Candy about many things. I may be able to go see her on Monday... (Actually, I never got to talk to Candy -- although I DID visit her home. You see, when I finally did manage to go to her house to see her, her dad ran me off and told me to never again visit her.) 

   Tonight Frank and I went to "Royal ambassadors" (the "RAs") -- a boys' organization at  our church "Hollywood Heights Baptist Church", located a 10-minute walk from our home. There, we listened to a chalk talk about how young Christian men should behave.
