Good Poster Presentations Enhanced by Good Pronunciation

Dear Fellow Earthlings,

The contents of this installment were prepared by one of my many Jingles clients. May

this client's words serve as an inspiration to everyone interested in precise, beautiful communication!

To My Fellow Jinglers -- and to My Fellow Earthlings as well:

I am currently working as a biology researcher. Recently, I participated in a biology conference in the United States, where I gave a poster presentation. I was honored to receive the Best Poster Award. I believe that the English pronunciation training I have been receiving through The Jingles was instrumental in my receiving this award. In this blog I would like to share my thoughts on the significance of The Jingles.

While the contents of a presentation and the layout of the statistical information and accompanying drawings and/or photographs are certainly important for a successful poster presentation, it is also crucial for the presenter to be able to explain the contents therein concisely within a short time and to engage in constructive discussions and interactions with the attendees. During the limited time alloted for a poster presentation, it is important to first greet the visitors who stop in front of your poster, convey the appeal and goals of your research, and provide a brief explanation of the detailed data. Since there are many posters at the venue and attendees are also interested in other presentations, the presentation needs to be completed within 5 to 10 minutes. Therefore, it is clear that any difficulty in communicating due to pronunciation issues can be a very serious problem given the time constraints. Moreover, if the presenter can use proper English pronunciation naturally and consistently, it becomes easier to focus on the presentation's contents - and on interacting with the attendees.

During my recent conference, I did not experience any instances where the audience had to ask me to repeat myself due to my English pronunciation. I was able to elaborate on the contents of my poster and engage in discussions (in English) with many attendees in the short time allotments I had available to me.

I believe that this success was made possible thanks to the fundamental training in English pronunciation that I have received from practicing my Jingles. The pronunciation training provided by the Jingles contributes to establishing a solid foundation for English communication, and it undoubtedly helps researchers like myself to engage in constructive discussions and build friendly relationships with researchers from around the world.

Jingles training has taken my career and personal network to a higher level. It is with much gratitude to Steve Walker and The Jingles that I conclude these remarks.

How proud I am of this client's accomplishments!
