A Technique for "Starring" in All You Do!

Dear Fellow Earthlings,

As my fellow living creatures all seem to do, I am battling forces that would maim or perhaps even kill me.

To lessen the tendency to injure myself, I have devised a "five-star approach" to coping with whatever circumstances

that should come my way...

I have two hands, two feet and, one head as my body extremities. As I age, I am finding ways to utilize these five "stars" to guide me through the unknown challenges looming before me.

My feet, many would surmise, would form the base. After all, they do their work at ground level... At my latest physical exam, my primary caregiver noted that the soles of my feet are still extremely sensitive despite my four

score less five years of age. Because they are sensitive, they provide lots of information regarding the surfaces I tread upon. Furthermore, their flexibility in adjusting to walking -- quite often barefoot -- on numerous surfaces, is remarkable in that while being very sensitive to sharp or hard or "icky" things underfoot -- they nevertheless have a high tolerance for pain. Yet they make me "feel ticklish" (such that I cannot help but giggle as an infant would when my doctor or my wife touches them!). How thankful I am for those sensations!.

   HOWEVER...

My hands -- I am almost completely ambidextrous -- can also serve as feet. For example, in conditions of poor visibility,

I am able to promptly "go to all fours" in order to climb a steep slope, land like a cat after a relatively short jump from a

high place, and even walk for a short time using my hands, with the soles of my feet facing the heavens.

It would seem that I have four hands...

But then comes the "crowning glory". My fifth extremity is my head. No, it does not wish to go bump, bump, bump along the ground, or to send a bowling ball rolling towards 10 pins. It does, however, work carefully with each of  my four "other hands" -- as well as itself! I never bump my head on anything, as all five of my stars are on the lookout for possible low hanging beams, oncoming projectiles, out-of-control creatures or machines heading on a collision course with us, or the like...

The result is that while my feet are still my feet, my hands are still my hands, and my head is still my head, the five of these  entities working together form a STAR -- one that anticipates my upcoming movements/assessments/reactions, guides me through them (even should they change abruptly), and helps me continue along the sometimes not so rosy paths that I must follow.

As 2024 approaches, may all of you not only have your lucky stars -- but also bring out the potentials of coordinating your extremities!
