Our catch phrase is on its way.
Dear Fellow Earthlings,
(This blog was compiled in the Falklands on 14 August 2013 local time.) A local woman named Stacey Davis was a Falkland Islands English informant for me from 9 a.m. until 11 a.m. today. We knocked out a great many Jingles! So far, it is Stacey who has provided me with the most Falkland Island English data. After her session, I did my walk up Philomel Hill – and notice that I have become much more efficient in getting up that hill quickly. The clean air here does wonders for me! After lunch I spent many hours processing the data I had obtained from Stacey. I thought that I had gathered enough data, but now I realize I still need to obtain at least 30 minutes’ help from a male informant. Most of my informants so far have been women. By the way, last night I was on Falkland Islands Television (FITV). I talked about how “The Jingles “ can help people sound the way they want to sound. In connection with that, I explained, I am in the Falklands at this time gathering data from Falkland Islanders so that I can develop a set of Falkland Islands Jingles that non-Falkland Islanders will be able to practice as they attempt to sound more like longtime (3rd generation or longer) Falkland Islanders. Tonight, for the 4th straight Wednesday, I played basketball at the Community Sports Center. I am going to miss the exercise and the nice people with whom I have played basketball here in the Falklands!
