British Fleet Keeps a Safe Distance from the Threat of Missile Attack

Dear Fellow Earthlings,

On the 8th of May 1982 the British Task Force continued to exercise a great deal of caution as its ships did their utmost to operate beyond the range of Argentina's attack aircraft.

Furthermore, to avoid exposing the Task Force's Harriers to onshore anti- aircraft fire, the Task Force commanders instructed their Harrier pilots to modify their bombing runs so as to "torpedo bomb" their payloads quickly and then move with all possible dispatch out of the immediate vicinity.

The Argentines continued to dig in for the expected assault. They were thankful that at least their cargo planes were able to utilize the airport just east of Port Stanley. The two bombing attacks that British Vulcans had made on the airports runway had been only marginally successful in damaging the runway.

Similarly, the Argentine efforts to "Argentinize" the Falklands was working out only marginally. Eight generations of being Falkland Islanders could not be forced out ot the people's hearts, souls, and psyches so easily. Steve Walker Earthsaver and Jingles Creator
