Nations should not espouse the notion that "The Big Fish Must Invariably Eat The Little Fish!&q
Dear Fellow Earthlings, On the 28th of April 1982 the Falkland Islanders could be seen doing their best to lead
"a normal life", -- but the fact is their land was now controlled by an occupying foreign army whose presence they loathed.
The Islanders and the Argentines were jockeying for ownership of what -- for the former
-- was home, and -- for the latter -- was the pursuit of a owning a few barren pieces of rock
that somehow stirred feelings of pride in the hearts of a great many Argentinians.
Argentina has abundant land and many valuable natural resources. It does not need to
stamp its imprint on some barren islands located nowhere in sight of Argentina! The simple fact is that for 7 or 8 generations the Falkland Islander identity had developed
-- and, clearly, it was NOT an Argentinian identity! Over those same 7 or 8 generations, young Argentinians had been constantly reminded that the Falklands were part of Argentina -- even though they weren't. Brainwashing should never be used in any educational system, for it stifles unbiased, objective learning. Old Papal decrees about whether Spain -- and not Portugal -- should own the Falklands
became largely irrelevant when Spain and Portugal were divested of their South American
colonies back in the early 19th century. The people in those colonies chose independence. Similarly the Falkland Islanders had chosen independence. Now they would need Great
Britain's help in regaining it.
