Our catch phrase is on its way.
Dear Fellow Earthlings:
Since I haven't been able to complete my latest blog about Seneca, I have decided to share the events of my 18th birthday with you.
You see, today is my 68th birthday! Let's take a look at my situation 50 years ago today!
Monday, January 10, 1966
Today I turned 18. In foreign relations class we turned in our term papers on our countries. The country I chose was Zambia. Also we began a panel discussion on the United States "State Department".
Janet Webb, my co-editor for the "1966 Kahokian" (our high school yearbook) was absent today, so I held our Kahokian staff meeting by myself.
After that I was hoping to print up some yearbook photos in the darkroom, but a disruptive person who has been harassing me lately by grabbing parts of my body showed up, so I left. I would rather Mike Steinkellner (one of the yearbook photographers) be there when that other person (also a staff photographer) shows up so that Mike can be a witness if that other person bothers me. (Note: If I had been more mature, I would have reported the harassment of the person there to school authorities, but I was so immature that I was afraid to do so.)
When I got home, Mom had a cake waiting for me. Tonight my family celebrated my 18th birthday.
I am busy these days with speech contests, choosing a college to attend, preparing for a debate against Belleville High School -- and, of course, making sure the "1966 Kahokian" is a success when it comes out this spring!
So, my Fellow Earthlings, that's how life was for me back on January 10, 1966!
