Dear, Fellow Earthlings,

English is NOT the language of Japan. But Japanese children are being urged to start learning it as soon as possible. Believe me, folks, this is a recipe for disaster!

There was a time only some 50 years back when Seneca children first learned Seneca and then learned English. But, insidiously, English began to penetrate all aspects of the Seneca people’s lives – and now Seneca is on its deathbed.

This can happen to Japanese too. Some companies in Japan have made English their “official language” (even though many of the employees of such companies do not speak English well.). When a society begins relegating its heretofore native language to special functions only (such as funeral speeches and speaking with the elderly), then that language will surely wither away and die.

There are many Japanese children who are able to spout out the names of colors in English – but are unable to do so in Japanese. This is the beginning of the end for the Japanese language.

The media, government mandates, and the expectations of adults regarding childrens’ prospects for success regarding the use of English are all contributing to the demise of the Japanese language.

If you are a Japanese speaker reading this blog, then be forewarned: If you don’t take action SOON to forestall the decimation of your native language, then that decimation will be here sooner than you may imagine!
