Our catch phrase is on its way.

Dear Fellow Earthlings,

In yesterday’s installment I mentioned that “ ‘molar distance’ is a function of speed of an utterance.” Also, I noted that a Jingles client’s speed control expertise will never measure up to that of a native speaker unless the client develops the ability to “deal with changes in vowels as a function of speed of speech production”.

Here are 10 segments taken from my 2002 book “The Jingles, Level 87”, pages 146 &147 (This book, as well as other Jingles materials, can be ordered online through Amazon.). Numbers above the vowels indicate molar distances (in millimeters) – and are subject to slight individual variation:

In the following 10 segments, the first sets of molar distances indicate normal speed speech motor skills application techniques. The second sets indicate slow, careful speed speech motor skills application techniques. Distances are expressed in millimeters.

1. for an easy way 4 8-9 4 4 5->4 /// 1 1 4 4 5->4

2. fill a cup 4 1 4 /// 4 1 4

3. this is an abuse of 4 4 8-9 1 4->5 4 /// 4 1 1 1 4->5 1

4. that was an open 8-9 4 8-9 5->4 1 /// 8-9 1 1 5->4 1

5. the lives of 1 8-9->4 4 /// 1 8-9->4 1

6. the lower part of the 1 5->4 8-9 4 1 /// 1 5->4 8-9 1 1

7. as well as he 8-9 5 8-9 4 /// 1 5 1 4

8. to an affidavit 4->5 8-9 8-9 4 5->4 4 /// 4->5 1 8-9 1 5->4 1

9. legions of Americans 4 1 4 1 5 4 1 /// 4 1 1 1 5 1 1

10. it has come (it’s come) 4 8-9 4 /// 4 1 4 (I dəz kʌM) or

4 4 (I 。tskʌM)

Through Jingles training your ability to manipulate your English speed control motor skills molar distance variation techniques will enable you to switch speeds “midstream” in a spontaneous manner and according to your wishes. This set of motor skills employment techniques can be attained automatically and without tedious analysis if you simply just practice your Jingles!
