Our catch phrase is on its way.

Dear Fellow Earthlings,

Today is a follow-up to Installment 178, dated January 30, 2014. I have had a bit of time to think about the situation regarding the African elephant – and have added two important suggestions to the original 6 that I proposed in Installment 178.

The 7th suggestion is:

Providing for increased funding for rangers who protect elephants and for ensuring that these rangers have state-of-the-art weaponry and other devices for dealing with poachers.

The 8th suggestion is:

Creating a project for cloning the tissues that comprise tusks. By cloning these tissues in huge numbers, we will be able to provide all people who want ivory with as much as they want and at low cost. There will no longer be any motivation to kill African elephants (or Asian elephants, for that matter) for their tusks.

It should take little imagination to envision a day when humans will be able to clone any organism – or any selected part of any organism – for purposes of saving lives, preserving species, or even just to satisfy various whims.

Yours faithfully,

Steve Walker, Earthsaver and Jingles Creator
