Our catch phrase is on its way.
Dear Fellow Earthlings,
Today allow me to tell you about the progress of one of my higher level Jingles clients (Ms. A). Ms. A’s goal is “the 91-Level” (the native professional level) of “England English”. During Ms. A’s session today, the first thing I did was to measure her pronunciation level when she
is merely speaking (rather than doing “JINGLES TRAINING”). The measurement shows that Ms. A’s “regular mode” (that is, her England English pronunciation score) is now at 90.3 – well above the 90.15 that constitutes the measurement results of the typical native speaker of (by definition, in Jingles theory) any language.
Under ordinary circumstances, most people whose results are this good would probably feel that they have reached their goals and would stop doing any further Jingles training -- Or they might sign up for a “Jingles maintenance” course. My school offers a choice of a once-per-month course or a once-every-two-months course.
Ms. A, however, is very intent on attaining the 91-Level.
Since Ms. A has already attained the 90-Level (the native level of English pronunciation proficiency), I know that her “primary synergy” (S1) is 3.5. By definition any native speaker’s
S1 is 3.5. What she needs to improve in order to reach the 91-level are her secondary synergy (S2), tertiary synergy (S3), and quaternary synergy (S4).
I will discuss the current state of Ms. A’s S2, S3, and S4 – as well as describe the hows
and whys of the means I used to arrive at her Jingles score of 90.3 – in tomorrow’s installment.
