Our catch phrase is on its way.

Dear Fellow Earthlings,

I am fully aware that an “all-or-nothing” approach to any facet of one’s life is basically destined for failure. In “Reversing Language Shift” (See Installment 164.) Joshua A. Fishman continually mentions this fact. I am finding that, regarding Seneca, “G” is not enthusiastic about using any text derived from my “Summit English for Beginners”. She does not see the need for the analogous “Seneca Language for Beginners” to be used with her 4- and 5-year old students. In the interests of setting more attainable goals, I am thus backing off on my plans to use my expertise at teaching children. “G” is showing signs that she is not very interested in such an endeavor.

“G” does however continue to show interest in the “ Gaënö’ “ (the Jingles being designed especially for Seneca). So I will continue to put my focus on the Gaënö’. With the Gaënö’, the Seneca people (on an individual basis) will be capable of empowering themselves phonologically to speak the language of their culture. Such empowerment could then possibly lead to the re-entry of the Seneca language into other facets of each Seneca peron’s life. Any step forward at all, no matter how small, is better than doing nothing or merely lamenting the “loss of another language”.
