Our catch phrase is on its way.
Dear Fellow Earthlings,
Amazon founder Jeff Bezos, in a speech to the Class of 2010 at Princeton University remarked how his grandfather had once told him that “…it’s harder to be kind than clever.”
I beg to differ.
For someone like Jeff, full of intellect and innovative concepts, no matter how kind he is, the degree of kindness he generates would be hard pressed to surpass his level of cleverness. However, for me (Steve Walker), I do believe that it is much easier for me to be kind than clever.
Kindness involves such simple things as asking a perfect stranger who appears in distress if kee “needs any help”. It can also be what motivates a person to protect living things and languages that are under duress. Or it may take the form of walking closest to the curb in the face of oncoming traffic if I feel that someone walking toward me from the opposite direction is unaware of the risks involved in walking too close to the curb. If I find an insect inside my office, I do not try to kill it or harm it, but, instead, I capture it in a paper cup, and then take a walk outside and release it.
I am just kind. I’m just that kind of a guy.
