Our catch phrase is on its way.
Dear Fellow Earthlings,
It has been a while (14 days, to be exact!) since I last shared my diary entries from 50 years ago with you. So here is another entry from my diary, this one from Saturday, January 4, 1964. – exactly 50 years ago today!
Dear Diary, The Kahoks won last night and are now 11-0. Today Mike Enskat, Dana Kennerly, Ronny Thompson, and Bob Nelson came over. We played basketball on the outside half-court behind my house. Bill Boehm came by after the other people had left.
Grandma Walker is currently staying with us. She lives on a farm some 40 miles east of Caseyville, near Carlyle, Illinois.
Tonight my dad drove Bill Boehm, Bob Nelson, and me to our home basketball game against Edwardsville. The Kahoks beat Edwardsville 84-59. Roger Bohnenstiehl scored 41 points in the victory. What a great game! Bill, Bob, and I sat on the stage at one end of the basketball court. I enjoyed looking at Judy Adamitis as she, along with the other Collinsville cheerleaders, cheered our team on. After the game Bill, Bob, and I walked to the “Dairy Castle” located about two blocks west of the high school and bought 7 hamburgers and 3 malts. I had 3 of the hamburgers and one malt. As I recall – 50 years after the fact -- the hamburgers cost a total of one dollar. Mr. Nelson picked Bill, Bob (his son), and me up and delivered us to our homes.
AND SO, MY READERS, THE ABOVE CHRONICLES WHAT I WAS DOING FIFTY YEARS AGO TODAY.
