Our catch phrase is on its way.
Dear Fellow Earthlings,
Let me share a bit of my life with you! Here is my diary entry from December 21, 1963 – exactly 50 years ago today!
Dear Diary,
Yesterday was the last day of school until we go back on January 2,1964. All day I enjoyed myself drawing maps of my imaginary country, called “the Relton Republic”. In that country all the women and girls are beautliful and all the men and boys are handsome. Most people travel around in vacuum tubes that whisk the people along at speeds of up to 1,000 kilometers per hour and in total comfort and safety.
I wanted to spend the whole day drawing maps of the Relton Republic, but I have made a promise to myself to study my chemistry too. So I put in some two or three hours today studying chemistry.
My brother Frank took a walk out in the woods today and ended up slipping and falling onto the rockhard ground. For many days now the temperatures here in southern Illinois have been around -10 degrees Celsius at night and have risen only to -3 degrees during the daytime. So everything outside is frozen solid. Anyway, now one of Frank’s ankles is swollen.
My sister Rosalie put up our Christmas tree today and decorated it. Also, she spent a lot of time reading a book.
My parents and my younger siblings (sister Diana, brother Kent) just relaxed at home on this Saturday before Christmas. All-in-all, it was a rather relaxing day.
By the way, I am happy to report that yesterday my highschool basketball team, the Collinsville Kahoks, won their 7th straight game of the season without a loss.
AND SO, MY READERS, THE ABOVE CHRONICLES WHAT I WAS DOING FIFTY YEARS AGO TODAY.
