Our catch phrase is on its way.
Dear Fellow Earthlings,
I woke up refreshed after my sleep at the Dudley Hotel. In all fairness, the Dudley (which I described yesterday as “rundown”) should rather be considered as “under renovation”. My mood last night was, of course, not what it should have been due to the run-in I had with the “mystery driver” who had followed me for 20 miles. That mood had colored my perception of the Dudley in a negative fashion. I must be careful to not let myself be influenced so! Actually, the breakfast at the Dudley was quite nice and I see hope that its restoration can proceed forthwith! Today I had the honor of meeting with my Seneca language informant, whom I have been referring to as “Lady-9/14” but whom I shall henceforth refer to as “G”. She is energetic, clever, perceptive, sincere, articulate, and determined. She took me to the school where they are trying to bring back spoken Seneca by working with the “little ones”, as she calls the precious 2- to 5-year-olds who attend the school . I presented “G” with my 85-, 86-, and 87-level Jingles texts and she presented me with various Onödowa’ga’ (the true Seneca name for the Seneca language) learning materials. She showed me around the school and it was agreed that tomorrow I will be observing the “little ones” all morning and will have a session with "G" in the afternoon.
