Our catch phrase is on its way.

Dear Fellow Earthlings,

(This blog was compiled in the Falklands on 12 August 2013 local time.)

It snowed during the night! Beautiful! After breakfast I did my trek up Philomel Street hill. With the snow and ice veneering the pavement, the walk was even more exhilarating than usual! Later this morning I met with two ladies from FITV (Falkland Islands Television Service) named Caroline and Sherry. Using the conference room here at the Malvina House Hotel they took a video of me as I gave my impressions of the Falklands and talked a bit about “The Jingles” and how I can use them to describe languages and dialects. I will be on Falkland Islands television tomorrow night. All afternoon I was busy getting sound bytes from 4 different native speakers. It was demanding work, but I hung in there and accomplished the task. By the way, someone told me the other day that hens don’t lay eggs during this time of year here in the Falklands. On my morning walk, I learned that that is not true when I peeked inside a chicken coop. There, as you can see in the photograph, was a nice big egg! And isn’t that slightly perturbed hen cute!
