Our catch phrase is on its way.
Dear Fellow Earthlings,
It seems there are 3 Seneca Nation “reservation communities” in the state of New York, where about 100 people still speak fluent Seneca: Cattaraugus, on Lake Erie; Allegany, in Salamanca; and Tonawanda, near Buffalo. If I can get in contact with most of those people,
then I can develop the very important first 3 sets of Seneca Jingles (“Gae nuh” or “Gae no” might be candidates for the Seneca word for “Jingles”, but I am still not sure… I still know almost nothing about the Seneca language, but I have decided to try to compose the first format for the first 4 Gae nuh anyway: Gae nuh A: From the beginning of the Seneca people, the three sisters (corn, squash, beans) have nourished their nation – and must continue to do so! Gae nuh B: Now that these people are free to have their own nation, they must help even those who are NOT Seneca to see! Gae nuh C: It is good to overcome one’s shame by being proud of one’s ancestry and optimistic about one’s future. Gae nuh D: We have to share our Seneca secrets -- and if we are not prepared to do this, then we must prepare (ourselves) to lose it all!
