Our catch phrase is on its way.

Dear Fellow Earthlings,

We CAN do various things, on a personal level, to reduce our “carbon footprint” (the amount of CO2 we put into the atmosphere). We can drive less, take fewer airplane trips, conserve, and recycle. But nations, too, must get in on this! Ways must be found to shorten transportation distances, something that would foster more “buying locally while thinking globally”.

Solar power, wind power, tidal power, and thermal power generation must all be developed. In addition, we need to continue to improve solar panel technology, heating/ cooling technology, and environment friendly architecture.

At the governmental level, programs must be put in place tied to financial incentives for people and organizations to join in as we seek ways to develop environment friendly electric power generation techniques, come up with cleaner manufacturing processes, improve the science of recycling, and cut down on waste and pollution.

It is encouraging to see how international efforts HAVE resulted in an end to the destruction of stratospheric ozone. Similar efforts can help Earth’s atmosphere to become clean – and more life sustaining – once more.
