Dear Fellow Earthlings,
I love domestic cats and hope they never go extinct. That said, I wish they would be classified as an invasive species in the United States and be banned from the wild in any countries where they are not indigenous. This is because they love to kill birds and other small animals – and often do not even eat the poor creatures.
Cat lovers inevitably counter, saying “That’s nature.” But many of these same people decry the fact that coyotes (originally native to the United States east of the Mississippi River – as well as west of it) have made their way back to the eastern part of the United States, where they are preying on feral cats and also house cats that, until recently, enjoyed a field day killing birds and other small animals just for fun – and with no animals that prey on cats to worry about!
Many cat owners/cat lovers don’t seem to realize that for coyotes to prey on cats “is nature”, too! Come on, cat lovers! Try to be more objective! You can still keep your pets – but keep them neutered, declawed -- and indoors!
